Hey all, I’m opening this post with a couple of pieces of housekeeping.
Firstly I’ve migrated the newsletter away from Substack which just felt a bit gross that more I learned about the platform to beehiiv.
Secondly the newsletter format has changed to be more streamlined. The reason for this is that I wanted to ensure that Game Pile never became a drag or burden on me. I reflected on why I’ve been unable to sit down and just write pile #10 recently and I realised that it is because writing is not what excites me even though the sharing of games does. So now I’m going to do a big link dump of games that I’ve noticed, played or otherwise think are cool, give them a few words and then maybe group them into headings for each pile.

Kolydr - pure arcade delight.
Many Nights a Whisper - impactful story.
Assault Android Cactus - bullet hell and tight gameplay.
Moss Moss - quick and elegant metroidvania.
Haunted Lands - throwback shoot monsters game.
Tomb of the Bloodletter - innovative rogue-like.
Wednesdays - an impactful and well made experience (very heavy content warning)

Box Or Void. - neat puzzle ideas.
Rhell: Warped Worlds & Troubled Times - mind boggles at possible solutions.
Berry Bury Berry - weird idle game.
Over the Hill - Mudrunners but chill.
Rubato - goofy platformer.
Old School Rally - SEGA RALLY!

Anbernic RG CubeXX - a handheld linux unit that does emulation and pico 8 perfectly for me
